The excitement was so thick you could smell it in the air.
Then again, the delightful fragrant was probably coming from the 192 cupcakes sitting on the tables in Haggar.
The day had finally arrived to pick the Snowball Court for this year’s dance. Following the tradition, the court was chosen randomly and, in the typical Ursuline fashion, the process involved desserts.
Each senior carefully selected a single cupcake, which had been made by the senior advisers.
“This is the one time of the year that I bake,” Mr. Barouth related to his senior English class earlier that day.
Upon Mrs. Frasco’s countdown, everyone quickly unwrapped and broke open their cupcake.
After a moment of screams and celebration, five girls walked to the front of Haggar proudly carrying their nuts.
This years court includes Hayley S., Kendal K., Helen F., Marti W., and as queen, Lee W.
Was there a strategy to picking the winning cupcakes?
“I just picked what I thought to be the prettiest cupcake. I had no idea it had the walnut, but I’m really excited, yet I can’t believe I am snowball Queen!” said Lee.
“I just picked the one with the most icing,” said Marti.

I thought this was such a cute idea! What would happen if someone was allergic to nuts, though?
