We all know it is really tough to stay motivated during the second semester, especially because we are coming right off Christmas break. Here are some helpful tips that will hopefully keep you motivated throughout this semester:

1. Reward yourself– Do not be afraid to take a break after finishing a really hard and or long assignment. Knowing that you have something to look forward to while doing the assignment, you will be more motivated to plow through that last assignment.

2. Make a list of goals and then break down those goals into smaller pieces and stepping stones– In our busy, intense lives at Ursuline it is easy to lose sight of what you want to accomplish for that semester. Write down the goals you want to achieve this semester and write down how you can accomplish them. It will be a nice helpful reminder the next time your Netflix binge session interferes with your study time.

3. Stay rested– Get a good night sleep every night even if that means sacrificing some homework time. Getting a good nigh sleep means that you will have the energy to face every day.

4. Fight procrastination– The more you wait, the more you will regret it later. The best way to get ahead is to do things as they come. Finish assignments when you get them, so that you can have more time when you get home to relax.

5. Find someone to hold you to be accountable– have someone get on you when you are not holding yourself accountable to your goals. It really helps to have someone give you a little extra push when you are feeling lazy. They can help you do with your goals as well. You know what they say, “it takes a village.”

6. Keep a steady routine– Get into a consistent routine. This will help you stay on task and keep you motivated because with a consistent routine you know exactly when you will be finished and you can look forward to that moment.

7. Stay Positive– keeping a positive attitude with help you stay motivated when doing a particularly difficult assignment. Approaching things with a positive attitude can help you stay focused, determined, and motivated to do the best you can until the end of the semester!
