Ursuline Academy recently devoted an entire week to promoting healthy activities to inspire students to always remember that their mental and physical health are very important. During Wellness Week, the school offered many different activities throughout the day in order for students to participate in the celebration.

Some of the activities available included yoga on the front lawn, uplifting quotes displayed throughout the school, and an inspirational talk from an Olympic gold medalist. Yoga on the lawn allowed students to arrive to school early in order to start their day off with a breath of fresh air and a relaxed demeanor to conquer their day.

The uplifting quotes posted throughout the school are a small reminder to all that they are strong enough to conquer the day no matter what challenges will come their way. These sticky note messages put a smile on the student’s faces and promote positive thinking even when times are tough. The messages also promote self-worth and self-love which reminds all of us to know that the sky’s the limit as long as we believe in ourselves.
Our guest speaker for the week went further into the importance of believing in ourselves in order to accomplish incredible things. Gold medalist shot putter, Michelle Carter, spoke to the entire school about her journey through injuries, health problems, and hard work that led her to winning her fist gold medal at the Olympics in Rio. She shared how it took her years upon years of hard work and determination to get where she is now and that absolutely nothing is impossible.

If she could accomplish numerous state and world championships, along with competing in multiple Olympics, and winning gold with a background full of injuries then we can accomplish any and every challenge placed in front of us. She encouraged all of us to keep working hard and fighting for our dreams because as long as you put in hard work and determination then the opportunities are endless.

Wellness Week reminds students to continuously take care of their mind, body, and soul throughout the entire year in order to stay healthy. All of the activities allowed students to be inspired that they have the ability to conquer their dreams and shoot for the stars as long as they believe in themselves. This celebration simply showed that we should not just devote one week out of the year to our well-being, but rather every single day in order to remain positive, healthy, and determined in preparation for any challenges that may arise.
