As Dallasites continue to seek out the newest and hottest workout places, there are some that stand out more than others for more than one reason. The first step to getting in the groove of working out is to find a place where you feel comfortable and where the workout keeps you on your toes (literally).

SoulCycle, GRIT Fitness, City Surf Fitness and Beyond500 are all examples of workout studios that stand out against the basic and cookie cutter workouts.

SoulCycle is indoor cycling re-invented with hand weights and core workouts combined with candlelit spaces and rocking music. Unlike many fitness companies, SoulCycle operates on a pay-per-class model and does not offer memberships. Each class has a custom playlist because the founders wanted every workout to have a different feel.
SoulCycle is located at 5944 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225 and costs $20 for your first time ride but $34 per class after the first time you go. Packages with 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 classes are available online and at all of the SoulCycle locations.

GRIT Fitness also takes a different approach than the normal workout studio or gym. Founded by Brittani Rettig, this full-body boutique fitness concept is based on her belief that mental grit or “passion and perseverance for long-term goals” is the key to both fitness success and to living our best lives. Brittani advocates that learning to endure though physical challenges teaches us to persevere through greater life challenges. The studio is open to people of all fitness levels. However, those who are just starting their fitness journey are most likely to enjoy the easier classes such as Flexin’ Flow and Dance Club Cardio.

GRIT has two locations, one in East Dallas and the other in the Design District. GRIT offers a first week class pass for only $10 and a first month class pass for $75. GRIT has a strict policy about arriving on time as it is recommended that you arrive 5 minutes before your class starts. If you do show up after your class starts you are not allowed to enter the class in order to respect the other members in the room.

City Surf Fitness is a surf-inspired fitness studio which offers group fitness class incorporating balance, yoga, barre, Pilates, strength training and cardio techniques. Many different classes are available such as Beach Body Bootcamp, Buddha Board Yoga, City Surf and Rip Core. City Surf Fitness has two locations in the Dallas metroplex: one in Deep Ellum and the other in Uptown. The first session is $25 and the first month is $69.

Beyond500 is the newer, safer alternative to high-intensity training. Throughout the workout you stabilize and isolate your Pilates torso in a chair, provide the power on the self-propelled treadmill that’s 30 percent more effective than the conventional model, and strengthen and tone muscles all over. There are four different locations for Beyond500, therefore catering to all of the Dallas metroplex. One on Henderson, Lovers Lane and in Preston Hollow. The new client package includes two classes for only $25 but after that you can buy packages of 5, 10, 15 and 20 classes online or at any of the three locations.
