From lounges to study rooms to the library to Haggar, even under the stairs in the FFC, Ursuline is home to countless spaces for solo and group work. But as homecoming and the holidays near so does the noise level in many of these sanctuaries of study. Not only does the excitement grow at Ursuline, but with siblings back home from college, family in from out of town, and cook books being cracked open, the excitement at home often makes even the idea of cracking open your Fujitsu/Toshiba unbearable. Beat the inevitable work load prior to any holiday and make your homework headquarters at one of these Dallas havens of learning and productivity-all no more than fifteen miles from our beloved Ursuline.

1. Union Coffee: 5622 Dyer St #100, Dallas, TX 75206
Hours: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Head to Union for a quiet, casual, and comfortable vibe, great coffee, and people watching. For a study break you can browse featured DFW artists or chat with friends. Union is usually pretty quiet so skip out on headphones and let Union’s classic coffee-house playlists coax you into writing the Out of Class Essay you put off or study for the Quarter Quell.

2. Café Brazil: 6420 N Central Expy
Hours: 24/7
Three words. Bottomless $2 coffee. Besides legendary pancakes, tacos, salads, and sandwiches, your coffee from the time you arrive until the time you leave is only $2. Come with headphones since it is a popular restaurant but prepare yourself to knock out everything in your planner.

3. Fourteen Eighteen Coffeehouse: 1418 K Ave Plano, TX 75074
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., Closed Sunday
It might not be super close to Ursuline but Fourteen Eighteen is worth the drive. Outfitted with couches and pillows, Fourteen Eighteen allows you the comfort of studying in bed and the assurance you won’t accidentally fall asleep. Make a group or go on your own but be sure to check it out if you need a change of environment or want to embrace your inner Rachel Green at your very own Central Perk.

4. Starbucks at Park Lane: 8026 Park Lane, 100, Dallas, TX 75231
Hours: Monday-Thursday 5 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday 5 a.m. – 12 a.m., Saturday and Sunday 6 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Yes-it’s basic, no- it’s not hipster, but it is classic and the Starbucks on Park is so new there is rarely a crowd. Without the risk of seeing the entire population of Jesuit, three of your teachers and your friend’s mom, the Starbucks on Park gives you the opportunity to fully enjoy your soy latte and finish your work.

5. White Rock Coffee: 10105 Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75238
Hours: Monday-Thursday 6 a.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday 6 a.m. – 12 a.m., Sunday 6:30 – 10 p.m.
White Rock Coffee is not only home to the White Rocker, one of the most refreshing drinks of all time, it is a prime study and chill location.
